CHNG Dju-Lyn

As a Regional Solution Consultant for Clarivate, Dju-Lyn is responsible for pre-sales and post-sales client engagements across Southeast Asia. She works closely with the Ministry of Education in Malaysia, Ministry Of Research, Technology, And Higher Education in Indonesia, as well as top research universities in the region on collaborative projects and custom insights.

 Dju-Lyn has more than 15 years of extensive experience in STM publishing covering various research fields such as medical education, medical informatics and evidence-based medicine.  During her career, she represented leading academic publishers such as Elsevier, SAGE and British Medical Journal as a speaker at seminars and conferences across Asia Pacific.

 Dju-Lyn’s passion for marketing, client engagements and academia combined with her experience in different publishing houses enables her to provide a unique blend of insights and stakeholder perspectives regarding academic research output and research evaluation.

Course synopsis/ overview

The objective of this course is to provide the participants with the knowledge and awareness of using basic bibliometric indicators to explore a research institution’s research output and performance. This will equip the participants with the needed skillset to extract research output data from Web of Science and InCites, analyse and interpret the data, and present the outcomes in a simple report.

The course will be fully on-line and conducted via the WebEx platform over a 2-week duration. There will be 2 class sessions, an online test and an individual project to complete. All participants will be provided with access to Web of Science and/or InCites for 2 weeks.

The assessment method will be based on attendance, the online test score, and project score.

This course is suitable for all individuals whose jobs require them to provide Web of Science research output data to various departments within their organisation, or anyone with an interest in bibliometrics and research output analysis.

  • Understand how to extract data from Web of Science and InCites
  • Understand the basic research measure indicators and how to interpret and use them responsibly
  • Able to create a research output report to inform institutional stakeholders of the current state of performance of a group of papers from Web of Science
